The Alexander Downers at the SYC

Hello friends, Well, I'm still plugging away at the Swan Yacht Club. The comedy cabaret didn't get off the ground for various reasons (mainly lack of advance bookings) so it has been decided to give the SYC patrons a taste of what we can do by other means. Friday 15 June 2007 will see a slightly changed line-up - basic country-rock combo (Dave, Louise and Paul) plus novelty singer (me) plus raconteur (Peter Capp). It's a free gig in the main bar 8 pm till 11 pm and we are being promoted as a 5 piece band with a difference. (In fact, I think it will be only the last number that sees all 5 of us on stage at once). This is not really a step backwards, rather it is me returning to my roots - doing what I know well and can get paid for - although my main passion these days is theatre and I am still striving to find a form of it that has broad popular appeal. The SYC is on Riverside Drive East Fremantle - opposite Leewin Barracks oval. There is a dance floor and many of the tunes will be quite danceable, so hope to see lots of you there having fun with us. Cheers!
