where do i begin to be an actor?

ok in the interest of this introduction being awkwardly written, ill just get started. im not sure if i have a passion for acting or raw talent, but ive been thinking for a while now that acting could possibly be right up my alley. anyway ill decide if i truly love it later, first, i want to know how to get my foot in the door! i read and read on the net but never come to a clear decision. what exactly do i do to get the ball rolling.. i mean i have no experience, and any sort of conversation with someone who knows what they are talking about would leave me looking like a fool. i know absolute zero, where do i begin?, a few acting classes? somehow get an agent? or do i go to acting school, what books would i get to learn the craft of acting myself? or would that be a waste of money? i need answers.. thankyou to anyone who takes the time to read this, im new to internet forums n stuff..
