One Weekend in Dallas
Saturday 13 February 2010
History has shown how the weekend starting on November 22nd 1963 in Dallas began with the brutal assassination of President John F. Kennedy and ended with the shocking murder of the accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald in police custody on the Sunday.
But little is known of what actually transpired behind the closed doors of the Dallas authorities over this weekend. How did the accused Oswald come to be presumed so guilty in the eyes of the world for the murder of the President and a Police Officer soon after - before standing trial?
One Weekend in Dallas makes its world premiere at Roleystone Theatre. The narrative is rich with fascinating characters - all based on real life people involved in the actual events of that weekend.
This production will place the audience on a fly on the wall position as the Dallas authorities find themselves thrust into the spotlight of a waiting world in the midst of President Kennedy's death.
There is a diverse age range as far as roles for males go and the structure of the play allows for only a small number of cast members to be present at each rehearsal. Auditions will be in mid - May and the production will take place in September. Writer - Director Paul Abbott welcomes any expressions of interest for roles in both cast and crew via email to pmabbott82@gmail.com.
Sometimes there are more than two sides to a story.
