What's on at Melville
Sunday 18 October 2009
We are two weeks into our three week season of "First Sunday in December", an Australian comedy by Eric Scott. Audience numbers have been very pleasing so far, as the show is probably unknown to most, not having been perfomed in Perth before, to the best of my knowledge.
The show had a difficult birth, with a lot of cast changes in the first month, resulting in us postponing the season by a week. It's a light hearted comedy, without a "message". If you don't like having an author's point of view on a particular subject rammed down your throat, this might just be for you. See the review section of this website for Gordon the Optom's thoughts.
WARNING - CONTAINS GIRLS IN BIKINIS :P
Plenty of tickets still available for this weekend. Bookings on 9330 4565, or email melville.theatre.company@gmail.com
Our final season for 2009, "The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society's Production of A Christmas Carol", by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jnr, is now in rehearsals, and looks set to do for Dickens what Ed Wood did for science fiction.
The committee is still seeking submissions for our 2010 seasons. We are looking for two productions to fill our schedule for next year. We will announce our full, or part programme after our November meeting. Anyone wishing to submit a script for consideration can send me a message on this site, or at the email address above.
