Roleystone Theatre presents auditions for the gun-toting musical western,
CALAMITY JANE
Music by Sammy Fain, lyrics by Paul Francis Webster
'Calam' dresses like a man, totes a gun and drives the Deadwood City stagecoach. Well-meaning, but disaster-prone, she tries to help the local saloon proprietor out of a jam by promising to fetch a music-hall star from Chicago. A hilarious comedy, it nevertheless has many tender moments and some very famous numbers, including "Secret Love", "Black Hills Of Dakota, "Deadwood Stage" and "Windy City".
There are singing and non-singing roles, as well as chorus parts available.
Characters include:
Calamity Jane: The hard bitten, gun totin heroine whotries to behave like a man but can't help lovin' like a woman. About early 20's. Singing.
Wild Bill Hickok: Handsome, professional gambler. Early 30's. Singing.
Lieut. Danny Gilmartin: good looking young officer. Mid to late 20's. Singing.
Katie Brown: attractive stage-struck young lady from the big city. Late teens to early 20's. Singing.
Henry Miller: proprietor of the Golden Garter. 40's. Non-singing.
Susan: Millers pretty young niece. Late teens. Non singing.
Francis Fryer: a song and dance man. 20's/30's. Singing.
Adelaide Adams: a showbiz star. mid 30's. Singing.
Rattlesnake: an old stagecoach driver. mature. Non-singing.
"Doc"Pierce: Deadwood's doctor/undertaker. mature. Non-singing.
Joe: bartender at the Golden Garter. 30's. Non-singing.
Hank & Pete: Two scouts. Teens/twenties. Non-singing.
The Colonel of Fort Scully: Non-singing.
Chorus:
Cowpunchers, Bullwackers, Prospectors, Trappers, Indians, Women of the Town. Chorus gilrs, Officers, Soldiers and their wives. Stagecoach passengers etc.
Auditions:
29th and 30th of June at Roleystone Theatre.
