Versatile actors and/or puppeteers are being sought for highly physical parts in the forthcoming Shakespearience (‘A Clockwork Orange,’ ‘Othello v Titus,’) co-op production of Alfred Jarry’s classic absurdist satire ‘Ubu Roi.’
The Blue Room Theatre will play host to the late Feb/early March ’02 season of ‘Ubu Roi’ which will be directed by Perth’s Nick Tapper and designed by international designer Brian Woltjen. Professional puppeteer Simon Clarke will be workshopping the many puppet sequences.
Shakespearience has established an enviable record for remounting and touring its highly successful productions and ‘Ubu Roi’ promises to be an artistically challenging, highly professional and well funded project. This being a co-op production, participants will be paid a predetermined percentage of box-office takings.
Auditionees are required to present a short (<1-minute) contemporary monologue of their choosing for their 10-minute audition. Be advised that the audition is likely to include a puppeteering component.
Auditions are being held this Friday 11 and Saturday 12 from 10-1 at the Blue Room Theatre, 51 James St, Northbridge.
