*NB* All characters of the show are called upon to play more than one role.It is essential that this is adhered to as it is an integral part of the
format of the show as a whole. Also, all female characters are prostitutes (or lady's of the night - for a better term)
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
MALE
DRUITT: (20+) Religious, respectable, clean cut, honest, high society
classed.
DAN: (19+) Self-centred brat, leader of local gang, egotistical, attention seeker, joker, dosen't like to be shown down.
SLOP: (17+) Gang member, brown nosed always trying to impress Dan.
BLUENOSE: (18+) Gang member, drunk (trying to act sober), slow, over-the-top, irritates other gang members.
DINKY: (16+) Gang member, Quiet (but requires actor to have a loud speaking voice), little unsure of himself but very smart.
LORD OVERCOAT: (20+) Street vendor, wise, educated, knows the streets tricks.
CHAIRMAN: (25+) Actor must have the ability to hold 7 different characters with little to no costume change.
*PLUS* 3 Opening places for chorus.
FEMALE
POLLY: (15-16) Young and unafraid, looks after herself.
ANNIE: (16-20) Opposite to Polly.
LIZZIE: (20+) Brothel owner, pompous, egotistical, a real 'know-all'. - Actor must also play the role of Queen Victoria.
MARIE: (20+) Smart, strong, independant, cluey, big in ego and stature.- Actor must provide a character development from the above to.. Scared, drunk, washed-out, insecure and weak.
*PLUS* 6 Opening positions for chorus.
