This is a story of identity transformations in the context of Singapore. It is perhaps too obvious and commonsensical to state that there are many narratives, trials and tribulations that contemporary Singaporeans face yet, too often, these narratives are silenced, unspoken, and shadowed by the growing consumerism and capitalism of our global culture. The Tiger-Pass Gate mobilises a re-conceptualisation and re-energisation of socio-cultural debates that has been cornered into indifference by our 5-Cs (Career, Cash, Credit, Car and Condominium) society. The five separate matrix of this play uncovers a surreal commonality through the diversity of bodies. There are MRT commuters revealing their imperceptible sense of individualities; students who must face the consequences of Singapore education; Ah Bengs and Ah Lians that exposes the conditions of prejudice and subcultural expectation; and the sexual politics of the sexually deiverse community. This is a play of transgressions and a play of inimical bodies. This is a play of movement through the magical gate of identities.
