"Ghost Writer"

HARBOUR THEATRE is Fremantle's only and original community theatre since 1963. The final production for our 50th anniversary year of 2013 will be "Ghost Writer" by David Tristram and directed by Peter Kirkwood and Nicola Bond. SYNOPSIS : A theatre company stages a production of Hamlet. At the cast party is one Edward Pinfold, the husband of Ruby, the actress who'd played Ophelia. He is a promising playwright, she a talented yet tempestuous actress. Tragically, party animal Ruby is found dead in bed. The theatre world went into deep mourning that barely lasted into the following afternoon. We join the story a year later when Ruby wafts back into Edward's life with a request that brings about hilarious revelations and consequences. This fast-paced ghost story provides a perfect opportunity for those character actors who enjoy making people laugh. AUDITIONS : Auditions will be held on Saturday 21st and, if necessary on 28th September from 11.00am at the theatre. CHARACTERS REQUIRED : EDWARD – Promising playwright and husband of talented actress Ruby. 35+ RUBY - Talented actress and tempestous dead wife of Edward. A renowned reveller who's last part was Ophelia. Murdered a year ago at the last night party of Hamlet. 35+ ALEX - Actor friend of Edward. Gay and camp in manner. 35+ GLENDA - Divorced actress and on the look out for a new man. Interested in Edward. 35+ FRANCES - Faded actress with a secret or two to tell. 45+ HEDLEY - Aging, obnoxious actor with a drinking problem and a bad wig. 60+ Note : Ages are stage ages only and are flexible.
