WAYTCo is mounting the World Premier of FIRE at The Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA) this December. The play is set around a bonfire during a volatile leavers party and is full of passion and humour.
We are seeking actors to play 5 male and 5 female characters around 17 years old, and one older male character around 23. This new Australian work is the creation of four young writers working with award-winning playwright Hellie Turner and provides a wonderful opportunity for 11 talented young performers.
Performers will be unpaid but will have the opportunity to create a high quality performance with a professional production team in a professional venue. A high level of commitment is expected if you are offered the opportunity to be involved in this production.
Auditions will take place on Saturday August 3rd at the King St Arts Centre. The auditions will be led by the director, Will O’Mahony, and will take up to 2 hours. You will be guided through a warm up, group exercises and then be asked to perform a 2 minute monologue in front of the group.
If you are cast you will called for readings with the writers between August 12th and 24th. Rehearsals will be held Tuesday evenings and on Sundays from August 25th and the you will need to be constantly available from Saturday November 30th until Saturday December 14th 2013. Please do not audition if you cannot commit to these dates. A full rehearsal schedule will be available at the audition.
