Auditions - A Raging Election (an original musical comedy)

Showroom Theatre is proud to announce auditions for its second show of the 2013, the musical comedy "A Raging Election", premiering this September for a 5-show run during Election Week (9-14 September 2013): "Politicians and journalists. Strange bedfellows? Reluctant allies? Or natural besties? These are the questions posed by A Raging Election, Showroom Theatre's latest musical comedy. Set during a certain upcoming Election Week, the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader arrive at the fictional Channel Eight Studios to tear each other to pieces in a televised debate. Lead news personality Frank Hope couldn't care less - the sooner he can moderate the debate and get out, the better. But when the treacherous Backbencher (an exiled former PM with a sinister agenda) proposes a devil's bargain, suddenly Frank and his friends hold not only the future of Channel Eight in their hands, but will dictate the course of Australian history for years to come. Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader hates boats. Taking aim at the insanity of modern Australian politics, A Raging Election is a musical about everything right and everything wrong with the Lucky Country in the year 2013." WHAT: We want you to be a part of our show! A Raging Election will feature a tight-knit cast of approximately 20, with roles for acting, dancing and singing. We welcome actors of all ages and backgrounds. (Of course, your ability to do more than one of these things will be valuable - but not necessarily essential) If you are interested in becoming a member of our band or production team, we are also on the lookout. All inquiries welcome within! WHEN: Round 1 of our auditions will be held by appointment on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd of June at a venue TBC. Call-backs for dancing will be held on Sunday the 30th of June at a venue TBC. HOW: For your audition, you will be asked to perform a monologue and sing a song extract. Our flagship musical, "Lawyers and other Communicable Diseases", was a great success. Our follow-up, "Wedlock", enjoyed similar acclaim. Of course, we've only been around since 2012 - but both of our shows have been successful, so we're on a roll. Everyone is expected to work hard, but in return, participants will be involved in an entertaining, challenging atmosphere, an extremely active social scene, and - everyone's dream - a production week of fun, adventure and excitement! Most importantly, Showroom Theatre is a young club with a mark to make on the Perth theatre scene. We have something to say, and we'd like people who share our drive to say it with us.
