Old Mill Theatre will hold auditions for David Williamsons A Conversation, the second in the "Jack Manning Trilogy" on Saturday April 27th, commencing at 10 am
There will be a reading of this play on SUNDAY APRIL 21st at 2 pm
The season dates for this production are August 2 -17th
This second in the trilogy shifts the focus away from community coferencing as an alternatice to the court system and examines its use in the grieving procss.When single mother's son Scott is imprisoned fror the rape and murder of a young woman, Coral arranges a meeting with the victim's upper-class parents and the prison psychologist who counselled Scott and asks Jack Manning to mediate. To support Coral are her brother Rob and Scott's siblings Mick and Gail. Are Coral's intentions of reconciliation pure or is there another motive?
This is an intense ensemble piece requiring strong actors. all cast are on stage thoughout the whole play and there are scenes in which they feature .Given the subject matter the play can be very confronting.
There will e a reading before the audition, date as above. Auditions are by appointment and there may be call-backs. Auditions will consist of a 2 minute contemporary dramatic monolgue of your choice, follwed by a reading of selected scenes from the play.

Jack Manning: 30-40,s Professional community conference convener, Intelligent, skilled, discerning, experienced
Lorin Zemanak; 30-40 Prison psychologist. She recommended his release following conviction for an earlier crime. Feeling partly resposible for Scott's re-offending she is staring to doubt her own abilities. . Intelligent with a strong facade.
Derek Milsom; 40-50.s father of the victim, distraught,stubbon, angry but trying to cope
Barbara Milsom; 40-50.s Equally if not more affected by her daughter's death, bottling her emotions in an attempt to cope. reserved, observant and strong-willed
Coral Williams: 40-55 mother of the perpretrator, still loves her son, loving, kind, but easily influenced
Gail Williams: mid 20.s corals university educated eldest child, still attempts to explain her brothres actions. Intellectual, stubborn, outspoken
Mick Williams:Late teens- 20,s Coral,s youngest. , unwilling to defend his brother, good natured and down to earth, ;oves his family bur undersatanably resentful
Bob Shorter: coral,s elder brother. has financially suppored his ster and family, has a fondness for Scott. Proud, generous, defensive
