Brian Friel once said of Murphy that he is: “The most distinctive, the most restless, the most obsessive imagination at work in the Irish theatre today.” This play is testament to Friel’s opinion. The play explores the events leading up to and including the Easter Rising in Dublin during Easter Week, 1916. It is an abstract, documentary style play and its treatment of those events will tear at your heart-strings. The Irish Theatre Players are pulling out all their talents to create a theatrical production that will be hard to forget; exactly 97 years after those fateful events! We are proud to announce that this production will also be an Australian premiere.
