Grim's 'Fairytale of Sorts' ... the story... In a time long long ago…..a time before the dawn of television, Facebook, and X-Box 360’s…village folk would put down their hoes and mattocks on a Friday arvo, to gather in the town square, to take advantage of happy hour and listen in on the tales spun by the storytellers of the day. We hark back to those ‘don’t we just wish we had electricity’ days, as we join Ganelon the storyteller, and the good folk of Partridgedale. ‘A fairytale of sorts,’ follows in the tradition of serious documentaries such as, ‘The Holy Grail,’ 'Horrible Histories,' and such like, and reminds us of the bedtime stories we were forced to endure by well-meaning, but rather silly parents. Who’d have thought that all those years later, you’d be wanting a part in a Fairytale for big kids? SEASON DATES: 18/19/20/21/25/26/27/28 October 2012 REHEARSAL TIMES: Tuesday evenings / Saturday afternoons (to be confirmed.) REHEASAL VENUE: Midland Junction Arts Centre AUDITIONS: Saturday 11th August 2012 (Midland Junction Art Centre) Note: bookings essential. CAST This is a tricky one, given there's 34 parts,( amix of major and minor roles), and so lots of doubling will be called for. The girls are fine cos we've squeezed nine parts into four roles, but for the lads that's a tad more difficult and will depend on age, physical characteristics and of course your abilty. The Directors advice is to come along and throw 3 characters at me..Stamp your claim on the charcters so to speak.... Note: a pre-requisite prior to the audition is that you read the script, for if said script fails to excite you then it's safe to say this shows not for you. Let's face it, we're hardly likely to bring the bucket load of enthusiasm required if you don't dig the story. CAST DESCRIPTION: We won't list each and every one, but here's a sample... Peasants (- 6 lads, and 3 girls) Age: 17-25 Fairy Godmother - If we tell you that our Fairygodmother is middle-aged and named 'Frank' will that be enough? Prince Rylan: Handsome, young, metrosexual....yeah whatever... Inn Keeper...ah yes our Inn Keeper originally from some obscure part of Italy, but ended up in medieval England...supposedly after scamming a lift on a passing ship called the Tardis. Ganelon the Storyteller - balding, prominent chin, middle aged, single, desperate, bow legged..hang on that sounds like me...oh it is me... The evil -'King Percival'...Age: 35-50... Brown Nose - Kings right hand man...they do say it's all in a name Quentin Cuthbert the 1st - a handsome metrosexual / gay young man with a dream of becoming a knight of the realm... he looks so dashing in his pink codpiece and cerise scarf... Kylie - Ah yes, the Prince's one true love...pretty and sexy to boot. Emma..Kylie's lady in waiitng...a peasant girl made good Arabella - Kings first wife = age: 25-30 Bodecia - Kings second wife....sister of Arabella...20-25 Archibald - the Prince's manservant...witty to the core.
