Audition - Stirling Players Youth Presents Last Resorts Writers' Project
Wednesday, 8 August 2012
20:00 until 22:00
An exciting opportunity to be involved in two new locally written plays!
A coming of age play, ‘The End of Our Youth’ sees four teenagers struggle with an adult decision. The play explores the choices young people make towards love, life and the future in a quirky and familiar way. The production will focus on getting to the heart of realism through the characterisation process. Actors will be encouraged to bring their creativity and personality to the rehearsal process. This SPY project aims to connect with the audience of today through fun and innovative experiences.
Note: This play contains mature themes and some strong language.
Playwright: Madeline Mowat
Director: Madelaine Page
'The End of Our Youth'
Characters:
Sophie: 16, Harry’s girlfriend, a responsible smart girl but who is slightly naïve
Harry: 17, Sophie’s boyfriend, an introverted boy who struggles to accept responsibility for anything
Jess: 17, Sophie’s best friend, an attractive outgoing girl who is in some ways wiser than Sophie
Josh: 17, Harry’s best friend, a confident and extroverted teenage boy with a slight adventurous side
Keep in mind these are stage ages only and anyone can apply who could possibly pass for these ages.
‘A Dragon is Essential’ by James Forte is not your typical romance. The play’s characters struggle with the changing nature of romance asking that famous question; why can’t it be like that? A ‘Dragon is Essential’ is a funny and yet warming piece with a sense of familiarity as the youthful protagonist desperately seeks her knight in shining armour and comes to terms with the brutal reality of young love.
Playwright: James Forte
Director: Matthew Randall
