Reunion

"Reunion" is a dark exploration of the commission housing culture and mental health. This original Australian play blends naturalist and non-naturalist theatre styles, as it dives into the underbelly of Melbourne's commission housing culture. "Reunion" is centred around the story of James who returns to his childhood world of gangsters, drugs and violence after the death of his mother. While at first James appears to be "better" than his former neighbours, his dark inner self lets itself be known soon enough. Roles yet to be cast: JAMES - 20-30 yo Australian male. The protagonist of the piece. James returns to his childhood home for the funeral of his mother and is confronted by his past in more ways than one. ROBERT - 20-30 yo Australian male. Robert is James' brother. Robert is jealous of James and blames James leaving the commission housing lifestyle for the family's misfortunes. NICK - 18-25 yo Australian male. Nick is the perpetual commission housing tenant. Nick did not finish high school and does not work. He spends most of his time getting drugged out of his mind and fighting with his girlfriend. Nick hates his life but is afraid there is nothing else for him. TANYA - 18-30 yo female. Nick's girlfriend who always had a little crush on James. While Tanya enjoys getting high, she wants to leave the commission housing life, as she experienced multiple sexual assaults. JESSICA - 18-30 female. James' girlfriend. Some think she does not exist.
