She wins a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show" and is quickly transformed into a teen celebrity. You will be supplied with the sheet music for the song excerpts which will be used to audition the characters you have chosen to audition for. ACTORS: LEADS Acting Audition will be by cold reading from script on the day. Hints: Study the characteristics of the character that you are auditioning for, (watch the movie). Listen to the way they deliver their lines. Please feel free to give an impression of the costume/hair/makeup, however do not go overboard. **On the day** Be on time Relax and do your best DANCERS: ENSEMBLE and LEADS There will be a dance audition on the day for dancing roles and ensemble Please wear practical and comfortable dance wear and bring plenty of water. Please wear either socks or dance footwear-NO bare feet, thongs or sandals. Dancers will need to arrive 15min earlier than start time to stretch and warm up. Auditions will include technique, choreography and performance. Auditionees are expected to complete all sections. so please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water. SINGING: LEADS It is highly recommended that you listen to the Original Broadway Cast recordings of the Hairspray songs rather than the Movie recordings as they are quite different. ENSEMBLE ONLY, please prepare a chorus of a song that can display your vocal ability, any song that suits you, it will be performed acapella. Joshua Webb MD will be accompanying the auditions.
