Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen Translated by Christopher Hampton Audition: Saturday 21st April, 2012 Venue: Melville Theatre - Roy Edinger Centre, Cnr Stock Rd & Canning Highway Palmyra Season: July 13th - 28th July, 2012 Cast Required: 4 women (2 x principal, 2 x minor) and 3 men (3 x principal) Hedda: Academics certainly don’t make entertaining traveling companions. Brack: Not even... the academic you love? Hedda: Ugh, please don’t use that nauseating word. Hedda Tesman, daughter of the aristocratic general - General Gabler, returns from her honeymoon with her aspiring, reliable but bland academic husband, George Tesman. No sooner have they arrived when their lives are thrown into disarray with the reappearance of Tesman’s academic rival, Eilert Lovborg, and Hedda’s old schoolmate, Thea Elvsted. Judge Brack also soon arrives at the Tesmans’ house with an agenda all of his own... Rivalries of all natures begin to occur, and Hedda is determined not to lose - no matter the cost. Thea Elvsted (Principal) - Caring, desperate - early to late 20s. Female. Eilert Lovborg (Principal) - Recovering alcoholic, brilliant - early to late 30s. Male. Juliane Tesman (Minor) - Pleasant, kind, eager to please - About early to late 60s. Female. Berte (Minor) - Plain, unsure - Mid 40s to late 50s. Female.
