Roles
YASMINE
The proud store manager of Super Savings. After gaining supermarket managerial skills in the lucrative city that is Sydney Australia, Yasmine has relocated to a suburban corner supermarket in Rockingham W.A. She is very passionate about her role at Super Savings and has a big task managing the kooky staff at the store. Super Savings is her home and the staff are her children as far as she is concerned. In an attempt to save the good old fashioned corner store Yasmine is found murdered. Who done it? Was it a staff member at Super Savings or was it arranged by the directors of a big supermarket chain wanting to cut down any surrounding competition?
You will be required to sing in this role and we would like you to prepare one upbeat song from a musical. Feel free to bring a backing track to the song or if you let us know in advance we can provide a pianist. You will also be provided with a scene from Checkout which we would like you to learn for the audition.
SPECIAL AGENT GULLY
Sent in to find who killed Yasmine is Special Agent Gully. This woman is crazy! Gully drives this story, interrogating each staff member one by one. She is an Australian woman who speaks with a strong ocker accent and has quite the mouth on her. She has tones of Sharon Strzelecki from “Kath and Kim,” but with a nasty, masculine streak . Gully earns the nickname “Dog Lady” from the Super Saving’s staff after displaying some dog like tendencies. She is hilariously disgusting!
(We have found in previous productions that in rehearsal for this role it is best to start at the top end of crazy with Gully and if we have to we will work it back from there)
You will be required to sing in this role and we would like you to prepare one Rock/Meat-loaf-esque song for the audition. Please bring a backing track to your chosen song. You will also be provided with a scene from Checkout which we would like you to learn for the audition.
