In Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost, ridiculously lofty, youthful ambitions for higher learning are destined for dramatic and repeated failure with hilarious consequences. No sooner have the youthful King of Navarre and his young lords proclaimed a solemn law banning all possible distractions from study, namely

"That no woman shall come within a mile of my court [...] on pain of losing her tongue"

...than they realise that the daughter of the King of France will shortly be arriving in embassy to speak with Navarre and, of necessity, they must make an exception for the Princess and her ladies!

Award winning director Grant Malcolm, the inaugural director of the GRADS Summer Shakespeare season in 1995, first staged Loves Labours Lost for GRADS' fortieth anniversary in 1992 and now returns to direct the play for GRADS sixtieth anniversary playing Feb - March 2012.

Auditionees are requested to prepare a piece - modern or classical (not necessarily from the play) and be prepared to read a small section from the play.
