INTERESTED IN IMPROVISING? INTRIGUED BY EMOTIONS?
ABSORBED BY ANECDOTES? HAVE A NEED TO NARRATE?
AUDITION/WORKSHOP:
For those of you interested in joining Perth Playback Theatre in 2012, this is a fantastic opportunity for you to experience and ‘do’ Playback, to see if you like it, and for us to see how you might fit into our group. If you feel like the right sort of person to join our company we will invite you to do more work with us, and to then join as a trial member in 2012. You have to experience Playback to understand what it actually is, so for this reason we are inviting interested performers to do the workshop.
Alternatively, if you just want to come and 'Play', then just treat the event as an inspirational, creative performance workshop. An integral part of Playback is the improvised music, so musicians as well as any types of performers (and directors, drama teachers and others) will love this workshop.
PERTH PLAYBACK THEATRE COMPANY has been operating for 30 years and is one of the most established playback theatre companies in the world.
Playback Theatre is a form of improvisational theatre where moments, experiences and stories from audience members are played back live to the gathering.
We use physicality, voice, music, mime, metaphor and the bare minimum of props to re-enact your real life stories, hopes and dreams.
A typical performance will consist of 4 actors, a musician and a “conductor” who acts as MC for the event. Each performance has a central theme, usually developed in partnership with the associated host organisation, and the experiences and stories offered can create their own narrative thread of understanding and reflection for those in attendance. We also hope that each performance encourages more stories to be shared in the world, as we believe in the power of stories, especially in the form of drama and shared group ritual, to better promote connection and understanding.
If you are interested in the universality of emotions, experiences and stories and want to know how to play back these stories live on stage with integrity, honesty, insight and dramatic impact, come and experience a PLAYBACK THEATRE WORKSHOP.
Perth Playback Theatre Company will be recruiting new members in 2012.
For those interested in applying, this is an ideal opportunity to experience Playback Theatre.
