IDENTITY AUDITIONS Players Theatre Company From Monday September 26, Players Theatre Company is taking bookings for auditions to cast their March 2012 variety show Identity. SHOW CONCEPT Identity. It is an issue that plagues every individual. It is the very essence of humanity. It is our deepest desire to define our Identity in this world. WHO are we? WHY are we here? WHAT is our purpose? WHEN will we know? WHERE do we go from here? HOW will we know? In our show Identity, we intend to address the subject of ‘Self’ in a unique way and create a show that engages the audience and makes them feel something, rather than just appreciating the performance. Our show will be about being lost, about not knowing who you are, about finding yourself, about hope – about the very essence of the individual. It will be about the audience. It will be about you. The show will include songs from shows such as: Avenue Q, Sister Act, tick, tick… Boom!, A New Brain and In The Heights. We require 16 – 20 performers who are looking for a challenge. There are roles for both singers and dancers, we are looking for people who can perform, not simply execute. Auditionees must be over 16. You will need to prepare 2 songs – one in the style of music theatre and one classical OR contemporary (please play to your strengths and show us the genre you are best at). Auditionees must provide sheet music in the correct key for our pianist. No a cappella singing or backing tracks are permitted. You may not be required to sing through the whole song, so please choose an appropriate starting point. We are looking for auditionees ability to story tell in their songs. We want to see YOUR identity, or what identity means to you. There will also be a vocal range test. All auditionees will be required to attend a movement audition. There will also be a dance audition for trained dancers. We are looking for dancers skilled in a variety of styles, especially tap, contemporary and ballet. Audition Dates: Sunday October 16: From 2pm (Vocal) Wednesday October 19: From 7pm (Vocal) Sunday October 23: 1:30pm – 3:30 (Movement Audition - Compulsory) 3:30pm – 5:00pm (Dance Audition) Please arrive early in order to warm up. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your audition time to fill in audition forms and prepare. Please provide a non-returnable headshot and performance CV. Rehearsals will be held on Monday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. As we are rehearsing over the Christmas period, there is some degree of flexibility in the schedule, as long as we are made aware of any prior commitments. We look forward to seeing you there!
