The Sound of Music

Hornsby Musical Society is excited to announce an addition to our upcoming program – April 2012 will see the return of one of the world’s favourite musicals - Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music. Loved by children (and adults) of all ages, Rodgers and Hammerstein's final musical collaboration features such well-known favourites as "Climb Every Mountain", "Edelweiss", "My Favourite Things", "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and, of course, "The Sound of Music". The production will be directed by Laura Sheldon (herself a lifelong member of Hornsby Musical Society and former member of the Von Trapp Family, having previously appeared in two productions of the Sound of Music), with Musical Direction by local musician Dave Morgan and additional Choreography by Lauren Nalty (who also choreographed Hornsby’s production of Cabaret the Musical). The entire production will be designed by Philip Youngman (seen last year in Hornsby’s production of Curtains the Musical). We know you will want to be a part of this classic musical and with a large cast and a broad range of roles for all ages on offer, the show is sure to be very popular among members of the Sydney Amateur Theatre Community and audiences alike. Join the production crew for an Orientation Evening on Tuesday the 11th October @ 8pm at the Guide Hut, Kenley Park, Dartford Road Normanhurst. Auditions will be held on Sunday the 6th of November 2011 from 10am to 6pm Performance dates in 2012 at the Hornsby RSL will be Friday 13th April at 8pm, Saturday 14th April 2pm and 8pm, Sunday 15th April 3pm, Friday 20th April at 8pm, Saturday 21st April 2pm and 8pm.
