Main Characters - MRS JOHNSTONE - 25+ a very demanding role, both with acting and singing.Must be able to speak with a Liverpool accent. THE NARRATOR - 25 to any age. Very demanding role. Liverpool accent essential. Strong acting skills are necessary for this role. The Narrator plays a multitude of other parts - milkman, gynaecologist, bus conductor, teacher and rifle range man. MICKEY JOHNSTONE - 20+ one of the twins. Must have the ability to act as a child, then as an adult. A very demanding role both singing and acting. Liverpool accent essential. EDWARD LYONS - 20+ the other twin. Must have the ability to act as a child, then as an adult. A very demanding role both singing and acting. Liverpool accent essential. MRS LYONS - 30+ A very complex character. She must have strong acting and singing ability. An upper-class English accent would be preferable. MR LYONS - 30+ long suffering husband. Factory boss. An upper class English accent would be preferable. LINDA - 20+ girlfriend of Mickey. Must have the ability to act as a child, then as an adult. She's one of the lads, but also the catalyst to the brothers' downfall. Liverpool accent essential. SAMMY - 20+ Mickey's brother. A real 'scallywag'. Liverpool accent essential. ENSEMBLE: Kids, Policeman, Miss Jones, Donna Marie, Neighbours, Wedding Guests, Judge, Nurse, Councillors, Doleites. In all - 3 men and 4 women for ensemble as they will double up for these roles. Liverpool accents are preferable - all ages from 20 upwards. An older gentleman to play the judge and the main policeman. NOTE: There will be a vocal coach on hand to assist with the Liverpool accents. A ballad style song to be sung at the audition by Mrs Johnstone, Mickey, Edward and Mrs Lyons. Rock style song preferred for the Narrator. Mr Lyons has a solo, but it is not very demanding. Everyone attending the audition will be required to sing. Please bring sheet music or a backing track. Auditionees will also be required to read from the libretto. There will also be some dancing and movement requirements, so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
