AUDITIONS for ALADDIN the Pantoosical AUDITION DATE MONDAY 6:30pm 15th August RICHMOND SCHOOL OF ARTS cnr. Of March and Market St. PREAUDITIONS AT OAKVILLE SUNDAY 7th AUGUST at 1pm. Less pressure, get to meet other interested performers and look at script, maybe karaoke a song or two and try a few parts. SCRIPTS will be for sale ($10 each) if you choose to buy one. Tea and coffee provided. REHEARSALS : Start Wednesday 17 th August. They will be every Mon and Wed at Richmond School of Arts 7.00 PM. (Time can reviewed) To help bridge the generation gap most of the music will be from the 60’s and 70’s. Could include songs from Blues Bros. Rocky Horror, pop disco etc. Some 40’s and 50’s will be used. This version of Aladdin is obviously more contemporary. The actors singing voices won't necessarily have to be great. They will be supported by an active costumed dance/chorus of aprox. Eight. All other costumes are oriental/ Arabian unless stated. PRINCESS WAY TOO HOT Could almost be any age or sex at this time and must be a good sport, prepared to send them up. Wears ridiculously large bra which appears to hide props, water pistol handkerchief sundial lollies mace etcetera. Considering using male (makes large bra and behavior more acceptable). Compatible age for Aladdin???? GRAND VIZIER ( CHIEF OF POLICE) CHICKEN CHOW MEAN schemer, organized son to marry princess. Is in competition with Aladdin. 40 years plus LUCKY WELLUNG the obviously gay son of the Grand Vizier. Very colorful to say the least. Paints finger nails and has a convincing mince must be good sport. THE GRAND ROYAL SULTAN (Princess’s Father) POO BAH ABDUL RACKMAR BUS CONDUCTOR EXTRAORDINAIRE. Known to his people as the BIG BOPPER 40 years plus (rounder the better) THE MYME On stage for most of the show and is normally invisible to the cast. Must have the ability to interact emotionally with the actors and the plot. Most likely dressed in traditional mime. Must be agile and very very expressive. Will show cue cards and control audience participation. Must be careful not to steal special moments throughout the entire performance. At times leaves the stage to return with” missing “or necessary props. Could play tricks on various characters. WIDOW TURNKEY in traditional panto style is played by a large male who takes of Dame Edna. Normally has cockney accent. BOO BOO A BOO BOO Aladdin’s energetic best friend (M or F 15 to25 y.o.) IMAGONNAGETCHA the Evil Turkish Magician, must have quality evil laugh and the ability to really “ham it up” (M 30 to 50 yo) THE ROYAL GUARDS (cops) will be selected out of the chorus (small talking role) THE GEANIE male /Female could be a stuttery old man to regular “hunk” cockney accent.
