STRICTLY HYPOTHETICAL: In the spirit of Geoffrey Robertson, “Strictly Hypothetical” is a NEW brand of entertainment about to hit Perth. For comedy fans, they are facilitated by professional comedians Andrew Horabin and Malcolm Dix along with Nat Locke from Nova FM Breakfast Radio. However, it’s certainly not stand-up: It’s social commentary meets live comedy! Think ABC's "Q & A" or SBS's "Insight" meets "Thank God You're Here"! Each show explores a fictional scenario, based on a real world issue. See www.strictlyhypothetical.webs.com for full details. THE ROLES Most of the panellists are people with expertise or personal experience of the focus issue. However, each panel needs one or two ACTORS to spice things up a bit ... and often represent a devil's advocate! No script to learn! We'd give you a character and some background info and you need to be able to answer questions and play that role. GREAT exposure and impro experience. You will be introduced by your real name at the end of the event. These first three events are UNPAID because they are fundraisers. However, if the concept proves popular there may be paid roles in future. All applicants need experience in acting, presenting or public speaking, along with impro skills, big personality and quick wit. Some knowledge of the subject is handy but expertise is certainly NOT required. Applicants with experience in role playing, debating, theatresports / on-stage impro or similar would be ideal. Prefer people aged 25 + but everyone considered. All genders and cultural backgrounds welcome but must have clear, articulate spoken English. If you're interested, e-mail and let me know your background and which roles you are interested in. Here are the shows and available roles: 1. Thus 9 June – Vic Park The Modeerf Question: Should there be limits to Religious Freedom? facilitated by Andrew Horabin, Nationally Renowned Speaker - Comedian ROLE: A CEO / business owner who is concerned about having to make allowances for staff's religious requirements. Thurs 23 June – Northbridge Perth 2030: Post Peak Oil in the world’s most isolated city. Facilitated by Malcolm Dix, Comedian, Author, Recovered Social Worker ROLE: Wealthy, arrogant 2011 climate change denier who has his own personal stash of petrol and thinks we should go nuclear. also Stressed out eco-warrior who thinks humans should stop procreating altogether because we do too much damage and the planet needs to be rid of us. Thur 14 July – Nedlands Should WA Trial Gay Marriage? Facilitated by Natalie Locke, from NOVA FM breakfast radio ROLES: • Someone excited about the tourism opportunities for WA which could come from legalising Gay marriage and can talk about the huge potential; • A lesbian or gay person who is against gay (or perhaps all) marriage. Someone willing to act is fine but ideally, I’d love to get in touch with someone gay who believes that marriage is an undesirable hetro-centric and / or outdated institution and the gay and lesbian community and their supporters should all boycott it. • Someone anti-gay marriage who believes it should only be between a man and a woman (once again, I am keen to find someone who really thinks this ... but would settle for an actor who can be convincing) If you're interested, e-mail and let me know your background and which roles you are interested in. katrina73@iinet.net.au
