Summer 189-
Undergraduates Charley Wykeham and Jack Chesney pressure fellow student Fancourt Babberley to pose as Charley's Brazilian Aunt Donna Lucia. Their purpose is to have a chaperone for their lunch with Amy and Kitty. Complications begin when Fancourt, in drag, becomes the love object of old Spettigue and Sir Francis Chesney, Jack’s father. The real Donna Lucia arrives under an assumed name with Ela, the lost love of Babberly, who cannot pursue her as he is disguised as Charley’s aunt. However, as in all theatrical love matches, after much rushing around and contrived situations, all’s well that ends well.
