Wingz Productions are currently holding a read thru & auditions for the Macarthur Playwriting Festival 2010: There goes the neighbourhood!. The read thru is being held on Monday 1st November 2010 and auditions on 3rd November 2010. Both these are being held at 35 Bocking Avenue, Campbelltown at 8pm. The rehearsal period is from 4th November 2010 – 4th December 2010, dates, times & location of rehearsals to be set by the individual director. The plays that are being presented are: Peach Bloomers - A comedy written by Gavin Austin, directed by Jullian Atkin Characters: Jamie – Flamboyant Australian tourist in his 40’s. (Male aged 35 – 45) Frank – Older bar attendant with an odd accent and bad toupee. (Male aged 40 – 70) Setting: The Cocktail Bar of a 4 star London Hotel Time: Present Synopsis: An Australian tourist confides in a London barman, trials of travelling with his mother. In My Dreams - A black comedy written & directed by Will David Roland Peisker Characters: Jessica Drewery – A disillusioned house-wife or perhaps ex-career woman, who has forsaken her career for the family (Female aged 30-50) Bob Drewery – A selfish and rather immature man who places his own goals ahead of his wife and family whom he takes for granted (Male aged 30-55) Jason Masters – A fresh minded, confident and likeable young man with emotional maturity beyond his years (Male aged 17-25) Setting: Drewery household & local shops Time: Present Synopsis: This is a story of a house wife Jessica Drewery. Her husband Bob and Jessica are in a stale marriage with two kids. When Bob buys himself a new sports car without considering the implications for anyone but himself. Jessica yearns for something more than the relationship she has now and remembers an encounter with a young student Jason Masters who is moving in next door. Lookout - A comedy written by Robert Bee, directed by Stefan Kent Characters: Wilma – An American tourist, strong American Accent required. (Female aged 20 – 70) Chuck – An American tourist, Wilma’s husband. Strong American Accent required. (Male aged 20 – 70) Harry – An Ocker Australian (Male aged 35 – 45) Narelle – An Australian, Harry’s wife (Female aged 35 – 45) Setting: Echo Point Lookout, the Blue Mountains NSW Time: Present Synopsis: Two “ocker” Australians encounter two stereotypical American tourists at Blue Mountains Echo Point with unexpected consequences. Credit Check - A comedy written by Eddie Zipperer, directed by Vincent Andriano Characters: David – A man recently deceased (Male aged 25 – 35) Jessica – A Female recently deceased (Female aged 25 – 35) Angela – A real estate angel. White wings. Halo. Very pleasant but hates hearing complaining (Female aged 18 – 70) God – King of Kings (Male aged 18 – 70) Dark Angel – A real estate angel who works for a different company. Red horns and black wings Setting: Heaven Time: Present Synopsis: After a car crash, married couple David & Jessica find themselves in the afterlife. Jessica believes things won’t be different, but David argues that it’s time to part. Wedding Anniversary - A drama written by C. G. Willats, directed by David W. Owens Characters Betty – A woman celebrating her 25th Wedding Anniversary at a local club, her husband promised something special but was expecting more. (Female aged 40 – 70) Norm – A man celebrating his 25th Wedding Anniversary but is more interested in trying to hit the jackpot on the pokies (Male aged 40 – 70) Marg – Friend of Betty’s having a night out with friend Doreen (Female aged 30 – 70) Doreen – Friend of Betty’s having a night out with friend Marg (Female aged 30 – 70) Raffle Ticket Seller – A member of the local lions club, selling tickets for the raffle (Male or Female age 18 – 70) Ross - Marg's Husband, who's been playing the pokies (Male aged 30-70) Barman – A staff member at the club. (Male or Female aged 18 – 70) Setting: The local RSL Club Time: Present Synopsis: A story of a Wedding Anniversary, which went wrong for the wife, Betty. She wanted to go somewhere special. The husband, Norm opted for the local club.
