The Adventures of a Bear Called Paddington
By Alfred Bradley & Michael Bond
Directed by Shane Bates
Season: 8th January - 30th January 2011
Saturday and Sunday matinées at 2.30pm
A reading of The Adventures of a Bear called Paddington will be held at the Theatre on Wednesday 20th October from 7.00pm. It would be advisable that all those looking to audition attend as it will give you a very good idea of the challenges involved with the individual roles.
Auditions will be held on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th October between 10.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday and 10.00am to 3.00pm on Sunday 24th October.
To book an audition please contact Shane Bates by emailing paddington@genesiantheatre.com.au. Auditions will be held at 20 minute intervals. You will be required to read from the play and also to sing the first 7 lines of The Paddington Bear Song. All audition pieces including the song sheet will be available on the day, so it would be best to be at the Theatre half an hour prior to your audition to familiarize yourself with the text and song.
When auditioning please consider that I am looking for people who are enthusiastic and energetic and who are happy to play to children. Ability to sing and dance will be an advantage along with any stage movement classes such as how to trip and fall you have done, but these are not essential. Please note though that the role of Judy sings a solo.
There are several roles available for all ages and there will be some doubling of roles involved. Paddington Bear and the children, Judy and Jonathon will be played by younger adults. Below is a list of characters with a guide as to the relevant ages.
