2011 Sydney Shakespeare Festival Auditions

Audition notice A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Romeo and Juliet Directed by Julie Baz and Designed by David Jeffrey, the 2011 festival will feature the one cast performing on alternate nights Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream and his tragic tale of star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. Sydney Shakespeare Festival has become one of Sydney's summer event highlights. Audiences enjoy a picnic and take in the spectacular views of Sydney Harbour and city skyline as they experience the thrill of outdoor theatre combined with the genius of Shakespeare. Actors required 2 x males 25-40 years old 1 x female 20-40 years old At the audition, actors need to demonstrate their capacity to adapt to the elements and deliver highly energised performances utilising strong vocal projection. Casting A number of actors have already been selected to be part of the ensemble cast, however, final casting of all roles will take place in the week following the auditions. Auditions Initial auditions – Sat 2nd and Sun 3rd Oct 2010 - individual 15 minute timeslots Call backs - Mon 4 Oct 2010 - individual 45 minute timeslots Please check your availability against the dates below BEFORE applying to audition. Performances 8pm-10.30pm – cast call time - 6pm-11pm Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun 6 Jan - 27 Feb 2011 Bicentennial Park, Glebe Foreshore ALL the cast are required to assist with bump in and bump out of each performance. Rehearsals 6.30-10.30pm - Tues, Wed, Thurs 10am-6pm – Sat, Sun 24 Oct - 19 Dec 2010 All the cast will not be required at every rehearsal, however, ALL the cast will be required on the following dates: 10am – 6pm - Sun 24 Oct, Sat 11 Dec, Sun 12 Dec, Sat 18 Dec, Sun 19 Dec 2010 Christmas break 20 Dec 2010 – 1 Jan 2011 – no rehearsals Production week 10am-6pm - Sat 2 Jan 2011 6pm-11pm - Mon 3 Jan, Tues 4 Jan, Wed 5 Jan 2011 1pm-6pm - Thurs - 6 Jan, Sat 8 Jan 2011 ALL the cast will be required for ALL the production week dates and times. Payment Each cast member will receive a share in 25% of the (gross) box office.
