Shakespeare Workshop- Pre Hamlet audition

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 4-1030 AM TO I,00 PM AND 1.45 TO 4.00 PM

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5- TIMES AS ABOVE.

Shakespeare performance practice today. Detailed text work, covering Shakespeare's VERSE and PROSE. Set speeches & soliloquies , research & rehearsal techniques.and at the end of the final session participants can perform- if they wish- a piece of their choice to be folllowed by comment and  discussion. It is advisable to attend both sessions on both days if possible.

The cost will be $20 for non-members of the theatre and free to financial members.

Bring your lunch, tea & coffee provided.

The series is based on John Barton's TV production & book PLAYING SHAKESPEARE. It will include excerts from the DVD featuring leading British actors.

The series will be of most assistance to performers who attend all sessions. Participants should bring writing materials  and wear comfortable casual clothing.

Also please endeavour to beg/borrow/buy or steal "The Complete Works of Skakespeare".  Try your local library or second-hand bookshop. These sessions are NOT a requirement for those wishing to audition for Hamlet. They aim at developing confidence- particularly for those with limited experience in performing Shakespeare, and providing  an awareness of the textural details necessary for performing and enjoying this great cornerstone of theatre repertoire.
