"Ladies’ Day" by Amanda Whittington AUDITION: Sunday 23rd May 2010 at 2pm VENUE: Harbour Theatre, Port Cineaste Building (opposite Woolworths) 70 Adelaide Street, Fremantle Life is just one hard, dreary slog for factory girls Linda, Pearl, Jan and Shelley. However a chance find in a Portaloo cubicle sees their fortunes change for a day, and indeed perhaps forever. Off go the hairnets, overalls and wellies, on go the fascinators, party frocks and stillettos, as the girls head off for a day at the races. Not any old race meeting but Royal Ascot where the Queen is in attendance. Tarted up and dressed to kill the four drink, bet and flirt their day away with many of the unusual characters they encounter. “Ladies’ Day “ is an exuberant, warm and contemporary comedy peopled with larger than life characters. This excellent script will bring great pleasure not only to the audiences but to the actors playing these demanding roles.
