The Auditions will take place in the Henry Lawson Theatre on Wednesday Night 10 February and commence at 7pm. The Audition will be open. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CHARACTER LIST - DESCRIPTION RONALD ADAMS - Age Early Twenties to mid Thirties MRS ADAMS - Ronald's Mother - Depending on Age of Ronald - Mid 40's to Late 50's Early 60's THE HITCH-HIKER - Not Seen, Must have a distinctive Voice - Any Age Prefer 20's Upwards FILLING STATION ATTENDANT - Age 20's Upwards ROAD STAND PROPRIETOR - Age 40's Upwards ROAD STAND PROPRIETORS WIFE - Age 40'S Upwards GIRL HITCH-HIKER - Age 16 Years Upwards LOCAL GALLUP OPERATOR - Any Age LONG DISTANCE OPERATOR - Any Age NEW YORK OPERATOR - Any Age ALBUQUERQUE OPERATOR - Any Age MRS WHITNEY - MRS RONALDS NEIGHBOR - Similar Age to MRS RONALD ADAMS 40's to 60's SOUND ARTIST - This actor stands to the side of the stage in a sound booth, providing the sound effects for the play. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Roles of the Operators may be doubled up with Mrs Adams, Road Stand Proprietors Wife, Mrs Whitney, Girl Hitch-Hiker is the actor is able to perform two distinctly different voices. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SYNOPSIS Ronald Adams sets out on a Road Trip across Country, along the way he is taunted at every turn by a mysterious figure, The Hitch-Hiker. Who is this figure? Why is he Taunting Ronald, Why is Ronald the only one that can see him? Will he reach his destination safely? It is a Road Trip that will keep patrons on the edge of their seats. The Play is to be presented in its original format of a Radio Play. Through this play we intend to take the audience on a journey not only with Ronald across country, but back to an era, before TV, where attending live radio broadcasts was hugely popular, and the next best thing to attending a traditional play acted out on stage at the Theatre. It will be challenging for both the Actors and the Sound Artists. This play will test the actors vocal abilities, and the Sound Artists keen eyes and ears as they provide the mood and the setting for the play. For the older audience, it will be a trip down memory lane, for the younger audience it will be a display of how things were done, before the invention of TV, Computers and High Tech Gadgetry. For all, it will be a suspenseful thriller where the Audience will be left to decide the ultimate question? Who was the Hitch-Hiker?????
