A lad in sane productions are hoping to find 3 actors to join us for our March production of Bargain Burials (comedy). Details of the characters are included below, but first a brief synopsis of the play
Set in 1976 in the outback town of Widjeemagumbuk, a place where things go unchanged for years. Our two main characters, Shane and Kev, are employed by the local council as gardeners, come gravediggers. Local boys, they’ve been tending the town’s parks and cemetery for ten years. When technology arrives in the form of a ‘backhoe machine’, purchased by Jim Corrigan, owner of the town’s sole funeral parlour, the boy’s jobs are no more, and the two are made redundant. Undaunted, by being dumped rather unceremoniously, the guys decide they should put their year’s of expertise to good use, and open up a rival funeral business. After coercing help from their good mates Bob, Dave and Stu, a new cut-price funeral parlour is about to open for business….
