Lightning Strike and Spotlight Theatre Company are looking for a male to play the role of Ahmed in their 2010 Fringe production, “Alex Buzo’s Norm & Ahmed”. The play was first presented in 1968 and caused quite a stir, partly due to the language content, which is strong and contains a lot of slang, partly due to the threatening content. It is fair to warn that some of the more threatening moments involve strong racist attitudes. Age range is early 20s to late 30s. The role as written is for a man of Pakistani origin, however the part has been played by actors such as Lex Marinos and Edwin Hodgeman. Actors should note that Norm is required to smoke however the venue has air conditioning. Please email jotony@internode.on.net for season dates and further information. An extract of the script is also available. Auditions will be at 6.00 pm, Sunday 13th December, at Jah’z Lounge, 7 Cinema Place, off Vaughan Place, Rundle Street, Adelaide. Season Dates 16, 24, 27 Feb and 5 Mar 9.30 pm 17, 25 Feb and 3, 6 Mar 7.00 pm 18, 26 Feb and 4 Mar 8.15 pm Sunday matinee 28 Feb 3.15 pm
