STEP in the spotlight and be part of MATES Theatre Society’s twentieth year in 2010 and join in the laughter, comedy and confusion of a truly laugh out loud comedy.
MATES Theatre Society are conducting auditions for their first production of 2010, the Ray Cooney and John Chapman comedy Move Over, Mrs Markham on the evenings of November 10TH and 12TH.
Move Over, Mrs Markham is set in the elegant London top floor apartment of Philip and Joanna Markham. Phillip is a straight-laced publisher of children’s books who shares a ground floor office with his business partner, Henry Lodge.
Reluctantly, Phillip agrees to let Henry borrow the apartment one night to “entertain” his latest girlfriend. However, at the same time Joanna has been persuaded by Henry’s wife Linda to lend the apartment to her so that she too can entertain her lover.
Unbeknownst to both Phillip and Joanna is that the interior designer who has decorated the apartment for the past three months has decided that this is the night he and the au-pair girl will try out the new round bed.
Move Over, Mrs Markham requires a cast of nine and rehearsals will start on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from early January, with a four week performance season commencing on April 17TH and concluding on May 8TH 2010.
MATES Theatre Society is a non-profit community theatre group who encourage the membership of people from all walks of life and varying levels of theatrical experience. For some members, involvement in the world of theatre has been a lifelong passion; for others it is a love only recently rekindled through the discovery of a local opportunity.
