Secret BridesmaidsÂ’ Business, a popular Australian comedy by Elizabeth Coleman will come to Noosa Arts on 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 November with a matinee on 20 Nov at 2pm. Directed by Sue Clapham, this is a very human comedy with clever dialogue about a situation we can all empathise with.
Mother, the bride to be and the two bridesmaids have set themselves up in a hotel the night before the wedding. Wedding preparations are reaching their climax with an increasingly panicky mum trying to ensure that everything is perfect. All is going to plan until the chief bridesmaid comes across potentially disastrous information about the groom. She must decide whether or not to tell the bride.
First performed by Melbourne’s Playbox Theatre in 1999, Secret Bridesmaids Business has been a huge hit with audiences. Elizabeth Coleman places the emphasis firmly on entertainment, while at the same time exposing our strange mating habits and questioning our over the top quest for the ‘perfect’ wedding.
Director, Sue Clapham has been involved in theatre on the coast for over 20 years as actor and director. She has won Best Director awards at the Star Alliance awards, the Noosa Arts One Act Playwriting Competition and at the Sunshine Coast Theatre Festival.
