Fawlty Towers

Auditions for Fawlty Towers will be held at Beaumaris Theatre, 82 Wells Rd Beaumaris 3193, on SUNDAY AUGUST 16TH 2009, from 10AM. Three episodes will be staged and these will be determined by the casting. For all other information and to book an audition time contact director Georgy Charles, by phoning 8790 0772 (AH). Only those who have booked a time will be auditioned. Rehearsals will be Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons. Successful cast members are expected to attend each required rehearsal. You are advised to inform us if you are unable to attend any scheduled rehearsals at the time of auditions. Once rehearsals have commenced we expect each cast member to attend every rehearsal, unless otherwise notified. The performance season will be Frid Nov 20, Sat Nov 21, Frid Nov 27, Sat Nov 28, Thurs Dec 3, Frid Dec 4, Sat Dec 5 @ 8pm, Sun Nov 29 @ 5pm, but further sessions may be scheduled. This show will be cabaret seating. Main Characters - in every episode Basil Fawlty - Late 20’s – 40’s (will largely depend on Sybil). Manic, snobby, highly strung owner of the Fawlty Towers Hotel. Long suffering husband of wife Sybil. Sybil Fawlty – Late 20’s – 40’s (will largely depend on Basil). Bossy, grating, bustling wife of Basil. Polly – mid 20’s to late 30’s. Maid, waitress, receptionist and whatever else is needed. Mild mannered Polly, often the voice of reason amongst the chaos. Manuel – 20’s 30’s 40’s 50’s!!! Bell boy, butler, waiter, general dogs body from Barcelona, speaks little English (which causes much confusion and hilarity). Usually on the receiving end of Basil’s many tirades. Minor Characters – in every episode Miss Tibbs – Spinster (need to be able to look elderly) Miss Gatsby – Spinster (need to be able to look elderly) Major Gowen – Need to be able to pull off retired, doddery old Major. Minor/cameo/character roles Many wonderful characters in each episode with varying ages (18 – 99!). Some roles are quite large, some smaller. May be required to play a variety of roles.
