Auditions for Double Pump Producement's 2009 Fringe Festival show, Jeremiah, begin June 6th.
We are looking for a supporting Female actor (20-30) who is confident with improvisation, character development and comic timing. Rehearsals begin in early July and will involve script development and workshopping. Our Fringe Season is from 25 September - 2 October. We have acquired a Fringe Hub Venue (The Rehearsal Room) for this season.
Jeremiah takes place in a town ruled by Lord Aram and his wife, who have convinced the populace that witches lurk outside the town border in order to keep them under control. Bizarre rituals and laws exist in order to perpetuate the lie.
The Noble couple leave town on a medieval Contiki tour and entrust governance to their only son and heir, Jeremiah. Whilst in control Jeremiah, manipulated by Caine the Court Jester, becomes arrogant with his newfound power and begins implementing rules of his own. He incites violence and disorder and the town slowly declines mentally and morally. Neighbour accuses neighbour of witchcraft and people are driven mad with paranoia and patriotic righteousness. But slowly Jeremiah’s manipulation is turned on its head as Caine and the townsfolk convince him that the threat of witchery is very, very real.
