AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE: "JUST SO" by Stiles & Drewe

In the “Just So Stories”, Rudyard Kipling (author of the The Jungle Book) created a magical world as he told his daughter fables of the animal kingdom. In Just So, George Stiles and Anthony Drewe have created a new musical that weaves five of Kipling’s most famous tales together into a fanciful lesson about personal courage, individuality and friendship. Just So opens at the beginning of time as the Eldest Magician discovers that all the animals look alike. He sends them off on a quest to find their individual traits. Pau Amma, the Crab, scoffs at the idea and becomes a menace to all, wreaking havoc with the sea. Believing Pau Amma will stop if simply asked, the Elephant’s Child sets off to find him with the reluctant help of a flightless Kolokolo Bird. Along their journey, these two innocents help others like the Elephant, the Leopard and the Rhinoceros discover their true selves, until the moment comes when the Elephant’s Child must face the giant Crab. Stage Artz Theatre Company will combine with Stage Artz Performing Arts School to bring the Australian premiere of Just So to the Glen Street Theatre stage (principal roles will be played primarily by adult performers; ensemble cast will include children & teenagers). All profits from Just So will be donated to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Stage Artz Family Musical productions have currently raised over $40,000 for the kids at Westmead. Just So will be performed 2nd to 10th October. Until the end of August, rehearsals will be held on Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons. From 29th August, rehearsals will be held on Saturday & Sunday afternoons. Extra rehearsals will be held during the week prior to opening. Auditions are being held on Sunday 17th May.
