When you audition for the production, you will not be auditioning for ROLES. You will be auditioning to be IN the show. The Director will then cast roles from your audition. SO if you audition, it is important to understand that you may receive ANY character. If you only want one or two characters, please state this clearly on the audition form.
John Burdon will play the role of ZACH so males auditioning will not be considered for this particular role. They will be considered for all other 9 roles in the production.
If you were auditioning for a play, you would have cold reads of the script. Consider your dance rounds as your cold reads. This is a dance musical thus all performers MUST be able to dance in order to be considered. Show your personality during your dance rounds.
After auditions, everyone will be asked to stay back while the Director and Musical Director cast the production. You will find out if you gained a role ON the day of auditions and will have a quick chat after you have been cast. Be prepared to stay at auditions until 5:30pm on the day.
There are up to ten positions for CHORUS for the production. The CHORUS will only be in the Opening number and the Closing Number (I Hope I Get It and One Finale). Please be very clear on your audition form if you are willing to be in the CHORUS for the production and if you will commit to the production. If not enough people want CHORUS, the CHORUS will not appear on stage during the production
Please consider that the rehearsal process is very short and will be intense. The Director and Musical Director will also take this into account when casting. Your behaviour during auditions is just as important as your skill level.
Rehearsals will start the following Sunday on 31st May at Kogarah RSL.
If you would like to audition, please contact the Director John Burdon on jackhammer004@hotmail.com or 0449 565 250 to receive more detailed information on the audition process and company.
We look forward to seeing you at our Information Night and Auditions
