Audition requirements: Please prepare 32 bars of a semi classical musical theatre song that effectively tells a story and engages an audience. You may also be asked to read from the script or improvise a scene. Each actor will be given a 10 minute slot for their audition.
Performances will be at Centre Stage Theatre, 25 Quarry Street, Spring Hill for a 3 Week Run July 23rd through August 8th.
This intimate production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s musical masterpiece will feature a multi-talented but minimal cast featuring a 9 piece Orchestra. The production team includes

Starlight Theatre Cooperative is seeking actors for the Following Roles:
MRS. LOVETT-Female, 30s-50s, any ethnicity. Worn-down owner of a pie shop on Fleet Street. Hard-edged but with a sense of humor. Lovett aids Sweeney in his massacre by making meat pies out of his victims. Strong alto or mezzo-soprano singing voice.
JUDGE-Male, 40s-50s, any ethnicity. Contemporary of Sweeney’s and the man responsible for his downfall. Pompous, self-centered and powerful. He plans to wed his charge Johanna Strong baritone singing voice.
JOHANNA-Female, 20s, any ethnicity. Young, ingénue. Sweeney’s daughter. Young, innocent, romantic and beautiful. She becomes the ward of the Judge who wants to make her his wife. Beautiful soprano singing voice (to Db).
ANTHONY-Male, 20s, any ethnicity. Young, modern romantic. A sailor who meets and helps Sweeney on his return to London. He falls in love with Johanna. Strong tenor or bari-tenor singing voice.
TOBIAS-Male, late teens to 20s, any ethnicity. Instruments. Young and vulnerable. Assistant to Pirelli, he is an orphan. He comes to view Mrs. Lovett as a surrogate mother figure. He is the glass through which this production is viewed. Strong tenor singing voice.
BEADLE-Male, 30s-50s, any ethnicity. Sleazy, menacing. Henchman of the Judge. Serving as the Judge’s right-hand man, he can be subtly terrifying or outright threatening. Strong Baritone-tenor singing voice.
PIRELLI-Male, 30s-40s, any ethnicity. An Italian traveling salesperson/scam artist. Long-winded and brazen. Strong Tenor singing voice.
BEGGAR WOMAN-Female, 30s-40s, any ethnicity. Once glamorous, she’s a mentally unstable homeless woman and prostitute. It turns out that she is the wife of Sweeney. Strong soprano singing voice (to Db) with strong belt voice.
FOGG-Male, 30s-50s, any ethnicity. The stern head of the Asylum for the mentally insane where Johanna gets put away. Sings in ensemble numbers. Strong Baritone singing voice.
ENSEMBLE- We will also be casting 10 quality actor/Singers for ensemble roles.
Please Note: the role of “Sweeney Todd” will be played by Jack Bradford and will not be available for actor’s to audition for. However, an understudy will be cast.
