Condemned Freedom

Hi Folks, We are a group of film students, currently studying at Murdoch University. Our next project is a short film drama, with a dash of dark humour. The film is for a university assessment, but our overall aim is to enter it into upcoming festivals. We are currently looking for interested parties to audition for all acting roles. Condemned Freedom follows the journey of Sam,an anal hypochondriact with weekly appointments to see his psychiatrist; as he awakens with the certain knowledge that today will be his last. The film follows his emotional rollercoaster journey, as he sets out to discover how he is going to die, why he is going to die, and what he can do to avoid, what to him, is an inevitable fate. Sam sees danger wherever he treads, seeing 'signs' of his impending death in the everyday that surrounds him. On his journey he is joined by 'a bum', who teaches him how to have fun in life, by enjoying the moment that you are in. But is it enough to save him? Roles to be filled SAM: behaviour: anal, hypochondriact, precise, dictated by routine, ironed pyjamas, cyclist, 9-5 office worker/cubicle, one of many, unimportant, invisible, understated Physical:short hair or bald, lean, average height and build, clean cut Sam is the film, and will require a strong actor to be able to bring the part with all its unsaid meaning to life. We are looking for someone who can really embody this character, and bring into subtle play his specific quirks and mannerisms. His character will go through all the gamuts of emotion, from panic, fear, hopelesness, joy, drunkeness, friendship and shock. This part will be shot in four different locations and may require a little bit of green screen acting. 'The Bum": Behaviour: rough, friendly, guide to Sam, happy go lucky, tipsy behaviour, street wise Physical: Scruffy, unshaven or beard, shaggy hair (possibly can wear wig) 'The Bum' is Sam's emotional guide. Takes a terrified man without hope, and shows him how to have some fun, whether you are dying in 2 hours, 1 week, or 60 years time. There is a mystery to the bum though, and the audience will be left wandering if he is real, or a figment of Sam's imagination. 3-5 young girls: A short but pivotal role exists for 3 to 5 school girls. In one of the scenes, Sam will be ringed by these girls singing ring a ring a rosy, which he sees as yet another sign of impending death. Physical: blonde, long hair, from ages 13 to 6yrs. Imp Info Auditions will be held at Muroch University on thur 02/04 and fri 03/04 at times to suit Scripts will be emailed out to interested parties before the auditions. These are unpaid roles, but food and drink will be provided while filming and a copy of the final edited film will be given to each actor. Filming will commence Fri 10/04 and will most likely take 4 to 5 days to film(non consecutive). The days and times actors will be needed will be discussed at audition.
