VACANCY IN PARADISE

Joondalup Encore Theatre Society are holding auditions for their next season on Tuesday 7th April. The play is a comedy titled "Vacancy in Paradise", and we need 5 men and 10 women for roles of varying ages. Below is a guide but some of the roles I am flexible with ages. Paradise Glen is a set of run-down holiday cabins where Wally stops to use the telephone. But he see’s Ellen, the owner’s daughter, and suddenly embarks on a high-powered campaign to put the place back on its feet. As there have already been some weddings there, Wally advertises romance – in a big way. Women flock, but men are scarce; and Wally’s efforts to get people married for publicity purposes prove disastrous, especially when he promotes a match between the daughter of the banker who owns the hotel mortgage and a hobo. Other characters include two librarians who take up Hula dancing; a sailor who has entirely too many girls; his jealous fiancée who nearly wrecks the place; a trained nurse who speaks her mind; a hired man who isn’t actually a hired man; and Ellen’s scatter-brained mother who turns out to be an old flame of the bankers.
