A cast of four males and four females is required.
Males:
Timothy Westerby; 40s, father of the bride
Dr. Gerald Drimmond; 60s, bride's grandfather
Charles Babcock; 40s, bride's future father-in-law.
Bill Shorter; 40s, business partner of Timothy Westerby.
Females:
Judy Westerby; 20-25, bride
Ursula Westerby; 40s, mother of the bride

Polly Perkins; early 20s, a 1920s "flapper girl" who appears to Timothy Westerby during the play.
The story takes place on the wedding day of Judy Westerby, whose ‘big day’ is marred when her father, Timothy, receives a bump on the head and becomes obsessed with a dream girl whom he keeps seeing everywhere.
A second bump to the head results in Timothy believing in a trilogy of mythical situations.
Firstly, the year is 1926, he is actor and his home is a luxury hotel.
Second, he has married this dream girl whose appearance has plagued him on this day.
Thirdly, he and his “wife” are about to meet and perform for a famous producer who is actually his daughter’s future father-in-law Charles Babcock.
Many entertaining and comical situations are played out between the WesterbyÂ’s and the BabcockÂ’s as things go wrong on their childrenÂ’s wedding day.
