AUDITIONS Peter Pan - The British Musical Sunday, 22 March 2009 – commencing at 9.30am Directed by Kiel Gailer Musical Direction by Stuart Crisp Choreography by Ben Herron Required Large mixed cast 10 years + All roles are named and actively contribute to the story – Roles may imply a specific gender but either sex will be considered for certain roles eg. Pirates, Lost Boys and Indians could be male or female. This is a highly energetic children’s musical and as such all cast members will be required to sing and dance or move easily. Auditionees will be called in lots of 6 every hour. The audition will consist of • a prepared monologue 1-2 minutes in length, • a prepared vocal piece (see below), • a cold read from script, and • a Choreo audition. Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear for easy movement. Bookings are mandatory – please phone 3200 8393 to arrange a time. Call backs may be necessary and are currently scheduled for Monday 23 March 7PM. PLEASE NOTE: As per BTG policy, all cast members will need to become financial members of the group. Due to the presence of children in the production, all adult cast members and crew will be required to have or apply for Blue Cards. Full details are available at audition. Vocal Requirements: Please prepare a song, approx 2 minutes in a stage musical style. Please no pop songs. Songs from Disney films are permitted. Auditionees should bring either musical notation or a backing CD without vocals. No a Capella singing is permitted. Vocal ranges will be tested to ensure that the show will be comfortable for you and that you can sing the requirements of the role. Please tell us if you have experience singing harmony. General Information Playing Season: 20 June – 11 July at Crete Street Theatre, Beenleigh. 10 shows across 4 weekends – Saturday and Sundays only - Matinees included. Rehearsals will generally be Sunday 10am to 4:30pm, Monday and Wednesday 7pm to 10pm commencing Wednesday 25th March. (Full rehearsal schedule available at auditions) All potential cast members are asked to advise if times are not suitable. Character Requirements NB: Ages are playing ages, not actors ages Peter Pan (M or F) Age: Teen. Vocal range: Wide range treble or tenor, strong harmony singer, G to F nearly two octaves. Must be able to “Crow with attitude”. The Darlings Wendy (F) Age: Mid teen. Vocal range: Wide range alto, strong harmony singer. A below treble staff to A above. Two octaves. Michael (M) Age: 12 – 14. Vocal range: Treble. Harmony singer. B below treble staff to E at the top. John (M) Age: 10 -12. Vocal range: Treble. Harmony singer. B below treble staff to E at the top. Mr Darling/ Captain Hook (M) Age: Adult. Vocal range: Baritone or tenor, harmony, G below bass staff to E at the top. Mrs Darling (F) Age: Adult. Vocal range: Alto, harmony, B below treble staff to E at the top. Lisa (F – May double as Tiger Lily) Age: Late teen – Adult. No specific vocal range required. Nana (M or F – May double as Smee or a Pirate) Age: Any. Vocal range: Must be able to produce a substantial “Bark/Woof” Lost Boys Nibs, Twins, Tootles, Slightly, Curly (M or F) Age: 10 – 16. Treble (boys) Alto (girls). C below treble staff to E at the top. Pirates Smee (M or F) Age: Late teen – Adult. No specific vocal range required - all voice types. Cecco, Bill Jukes, Starkey etc (M or F – Will double as Indians) Age: Late teen – adult. No specific vocal range required - all voice types. Harmony preferred. Indians Chief (M) Age: Adult. Vocal range: Tenor, C in middle of bass staff to F above. Tiger Lily (F – May double as Lisa) Age: Mid – late teens. Vocal range: Alto, harmony Singer, C below treble staff to F at the top. Running Bear, Cunning Fox, Bald Eagle, etc (M or F – Will double as pirates) Age: Late teen – adult. No specific vocal range required. ** Dancing ability ideal Crocodile (M or F – Will double as Lost Boy) Small stature and have good agility. DON'T FORGET TO BOOK AN AUDITION TIME!!!
