A new Australian musical is looking for a male actor (45- 55) to play the lead role of Frank McGee: a supersalesman, hardened by life, but with a heart of gold. He has much to give; he just needs a little love from the shows heroine: Jean Brown, a compulsive volunteer played by Australian TV legend Tracy Harvey. Call Girl the Musical is a new Australian production by comedian and writer Tracy Harvey, with assistance from Doug MacLeod (Kath& Kim) and musical arrangements by Jack Howard (Hunters and Collectors) A preview season was recently staged with an overwhelming public response. With minimal publicity, a limited budget and a brand new show - the production enjoyed a standing room only season along with a swag of positive reviews: "Call Girl is high on energy, big on laughs, and very, very pink!" Web Wombat “This musical succeeds triumphantly. Lyrically the material is as good as you could hope for: often extremely funny, occasionally very naughty, and never ever dull. Add to this some very well-written dialogue blended seamlessly between the numbers and you have a very rare thing indeed: a truly original Australian musical.” Arts Hub “With all the elements of an Off Broadway musical – topical content and gags, small cast and catchy songs - Call Girl has the ingredients for a fun night in the theatre without the big price tag” Theatre People "the songs….are tuneful and bright – it is a breezy revue style piece of entertainment” The Age The show is now continuing its development through a profit-share April season at Chapel off Chapel. Alan Fletcher (yes, that’s right….Dr.Karl Kennedy from Neighbours) was very generous in playing the leading man role of Frank McGee– the hardnosed supersalesman at We Care Marketing and the eventual love interest for Jean Brown. But with daily Neighbours commitments and a young family - Alan unfortunately can’t commit to another season and we must recast the role immediately. They’re pretty big shoes to fill – and only an incredible leading man will be up to the challenge. We are on the lookout for someone to join this unique, quirky and creative team – in the continued development of a fully-fledged original Australian musical. We need a suave and sophisticated actor who can match it with Tracy Harvey; dance and sing; woo the audience with a little bit of "grown up" sex appeal and bring an overall positive attitude to this show in development.
