Anonymous Theatre V - Dimboola, a wedding reception. REQUIRED: 16 competent and experienced actors, with ability to learn lines and moves with just 1 hour weekly individual rehearsal with director at theatre. There will be no opportunity to develop any performing rapport with fellow actors until the Anonymous Theatre performance. Then actors will be expected to present a cohesive, fast-moving production and also be able to interact with audience as the wedding guests as well as with each other. Another major requirement is ability to keep a SECRET. No mention of involvement to anyone until the big surprise on the Anonymous Theatre night. Presenting Dimboola as part of Beaumaris Theatre’s Anonymous Theatre concept is a terrific challenge for all concerned. No involvement with any other show during the Dimboola rehearsal/performance period will be accepted. Performance Dates: Saturday, May 2 (Anonymous Theatre) Rehearsed performances May 8, 9, 15, 16 (final show at Mentone RSL) CHARACTERS: (all except Father O’Shea and Radish to use Aussie accents, in some cases the more Ocker the better) At the Official Table: Morris McAdam (Morrie) the bridegroom (Male 19-35 yrs. Of any appearance/height)) Maureen McAdam (Reen) the bride (Female 18-30 yrs. Of any appearance/height) Darcy Delaney (Darkie) father of the bride (Male, salt of the earth character 44-65 yrs) April Delaney (June) mother of the bride (Female, down to earth, 43-65 yrs) Angus McAdam (Knocka) father of the groom (Male, salt of the earth, 44-65 yrs) Florence McAdam (Florrie) mother of the groom (Female, down to earth, 43-65 yrs) Father Patrick O’Shea parish priest (male 55-70 yrs, Irish Accent, sings Danny Boy and In Ireland, Old Ireland). Strong performer who can interact well with wedding guests and bridal party and hold the show together in case of mishap) Daryl Dunn (Dangles) best man (Male, 19-35 yrs Bright, good communicator, Ocker) Shirl bridesmaid (female, 19-37 yrs, slightly tarty, good-natured rough diamond, down to earth Ocker) Astrid McAdam flower girl (female, 18-28 yrs, preferably of shortish stature. Sings Animal Crackers in My Soup, does simple tap dance. A precocious brat able to climb on furniture and run) Guests (Invited): Horace McAdam (Horrie) uncle of groom and father of Astrid – (male, 38 – 58yrs, An excellent communicator who may be needed to help keep things going in case of mishap. Sings 3 songs in drunken but friendly state with guests) Mavis McAdam aunt of groom and wife to Horace – (female, 35 – 55 yrs, from Melbourne, more sophisticated than other women) Aggie McAdam spinster cousin to the McAdams (female, 45 – 70 yrs, birdlike, prim and proper … until liaison under bridal table with Father O’Shea!) Guests (Uninvited): Bayonet a local wit and drunk (male, mid 30’s to late 60’s. Ocker, ability to hold the floor, move between tables chatting to guests and (tastefully) repulse everyone at the same time. Mutton a local wit and drunk (same requirements as for Bayonet- they sing South of the Border with Horrie) Leonardo Radish a reporter (male, 22-55 yrs. Worldly, superior manner, very well spoken)
