AUDITION: 8th December at 7pm at Harbour Theatre, Princess May Theatre, Cantonment St (cnr Parry st), Fremantle WA. For information call Susan Lynch on (08) 9310 1448 or 0431 024 052. Fed up with playing "Trivial Pursuit" and watching soap operas on TV, Elsie and Norm decide to have a bash at a bit of culture by staging a production of Macbeth in their living room. After a spot of rewriting to make it snappier and more punchy, they perform "one of the greatest pieces of literature what has ever been wrote", playing all the characters between them - with hilarious results. Characters: Elsie – Female aged 40+ Norm – Male aged 40+ William – Male any age – very small part at the end of the play to be played along with backstage work. Elsie and Norm are a married couple so casting will be partly determined by compatibility of available actors in age and general appearance. The characters are written as North Country English but may be played as Australian in this version depending on available actors. During the play they will play ‘Macbeth’ in their own as well as Scots accents. Actors will need to be convincing in a Scots accent – at the audition, not on the basis of picking it up as you go along.
