Synopsis of Valentine’s Day by Barry Creyton -  The setting is New York

Lewis and Nick are both ex-husbands of the gorgeous and glamourous Amelia and she took them both to the cleaners when she divorced them.

Lewis, an Englishman, is now a failed writer, broke and despondent.  Nick is also broke, very angry, impatient and wanting to make a quick buck (whatever it takes). He has poor taste and loves sports.

Nick lives with Fran who is waiting for him to ask her to marry him. She is attractive and practical.

Mrs. Weisberg, a buxom, city-tough, New York Jewish widow, ready for the next man, lives in Lewis’s apartment block.

Arnold is Lewis and Nick’s lawyer. He is ultra-charming, very attractive to women and a con-man.

Arnold schemes with Gloria, a NYPD officer, to take Lewis, Nick and Amelia down in a very lucrative scam.

Nick hires Aguzzo, a hitman, to take revenge on Amelia. Aguzzo says nothing, but must look threatening, either by his size or height. (Aguzzo is very popular with audiences!)

We never see Amelia, but her presence dominates the play.

SO – the characters, seven in all.  Ages are not definitive but must suit one another and their own circumstances. Lewis and Nick should be over 40 and Fran has to match with Nick. Mrs W. can be almost any age past 40. Arnold can be a bit younger and Gloria should be shapely and youngish.
